<p>At the Arthur Ashe Stadium, Djokovic beat Medvedev in a decisive match to claim the championship.</p>
<p>Djokovic paid respect to Bryant, who unfortunately died away in 2020, before the trophy ceremony. The words “Mamba Forever” and a picture of the Serbian wearing the LA Lakers legend were printed on a t-shirt.</p>
<p>“If I had the opportunity to win the tournament, I considered making this T-shirt ultimately. Seven days ago, about. I didn’t tell anybody about it until a few days ago, when I asked my friends to help me construct this jersey, according to a report on Djokovic.</p>
<p>Kobe was my very best buddy. When I was dealing with an injury and trying to make a return and fight my way back to the top of the game, we spoke a lot about having a winner’s attitude.</p>
<p>The 36-year-old Serbian earlier defeated Medvedev in straight sets in the final to win his fourth US Open and a record-tying 24th Grand Slam singles championship.</p>
<p>Djokovic easily defeated Medvedev in the matchup between the second and third seeds, 6-3, 7-6(5), 6-3. He achieved the Open Era record for the oldest US Open men’s singles winner with the win.</p>
<p>Djokovic became the first player to win three Grand Slam singles championships in a season four times after also taking home victories at the Australian Open and the French Open this year.</p>
<p>The victory served as payback to Medvedev, who stopped Djokovic’s ascent to become the first player to win all four Grand Slam tournaments in the same calendar year since Rod Laver in 1969, in 2021 in straight sets.</p>
<p>Djokovic will take back the top rank on Monday after his victory.</p>
